Hello!!
Well your president has made his first and hopefully last, big mistake and it was a doozy. I went to the game in Moosomin to watch the Warriors take on the Beardy’s Blackhawks. When I arrived at the game I found out that there was only the ref and no linesman. After much discussion it was decided that the ref would go at it alone. Also, I talked to both teams about it before play started. All in all it was a very good game with the teams respecting the official and each other.
Beardy’s stormed out to a 2-0 lead but couldn’t hold on to it and Moosomin tied the game at 3-3. After that the teams traded goals with the Warriors leading the way for most of the 2nd and 3rd periods. Halfway through the 3rd period there was a 5 minute major and a game misconduct handed out to #88 Tyson Moccasin from the Moosomin Warriors after a vicious elbow to the head of #23 Don Gamble Jr of Beardy’s. Gamble was prone on the ice for at least 5 minutes after the hit and only played one or two shifts after that. Beardy’s capitalized twice on the power play and went on to win a squeaker 9-8.
#88 Tyson Poitras will have to sit out one game and he is also fined $100.00 as set by the League President. Please refer to section 6.07 of the Treaty Six Hockey League constitution. NO ROUGH OR DIRTY HOCKEY WILL BE TOLERATED.
I, as president of the TSHL, will not stand for this kind of play. I put a lot of time and effort into the constitution and I am going to make sure all teams follow the rules that have been set and agreed upon by the team governors.
I would like to take this time to thank all team governors for their help in forming this league. Without them I would be lost. I would also like to especially thank Hilliard Gardipy and Angus Esperance for their input as they had key roles in the steering committee.
That’s it for today. Hope to see you at a few games this year because this league will only be as successful as you the fans make it out to be.
