Hello again!!

Well it was quite the weekend in the TSHL.  On Friday I traveled to Montreal Lake to watch the Blue Jackets take on the Sandy Lake Chiefs in a hard hitting fast paced game.  The Chiefs won the game but the effort put forth by the Blue Jackets probably won them some more fan support.  They played a very good game.  The final score there was 13-6 in favor of the Chiefs.

Also on Friday, the Mistawasis Warriors headed out to Moosomin to take on their Warriors and just as the names suggest it ended up being a war.  There were two fights in the high scoring game, which the Warriors from Mistawasis managed to take home the two points with a 12-3 victory even though they traveled with a very short bench.

Finally on Friday the Onion Lake Eagles traveled to Beardy’s to take on the Blackhawks for the first game of their two game road trip.  After the first period it was 3-2 in favor of the hometown Blackhawks who still led 7-4 after the second period.  The score ended up 10-6 to send the hometown crowd off with a smile and the Eagles wondering what went wrong.

Onion Lake showed up late for the game, which is going to make their road trip a little more expensive by causing them to be fined $200.00 for causing a game to start 15 minutes after the scheduled start time (Please refer to Section 8.18 of the constitution).

Saturday saw the 0-1 Braves travel from Little Pine to Sandy Lake to take on the 1-1 Chiefs.  I had the honor of attending this game and thoroughly enjoyed the game, which saw the Chiefs move to 2-1, which is good for a second place position in the league standings, with a convincing 9-2 victory to send the Braves home winless on the season with an 0-2 record.

Tempers got the better of a couple of players and a fight ensued that ended with a five game suspension for #77 Clint Checkosis of the Little Pine Braves because of a stick swinging incident and a fight.  He got suspended for two games by the SHA and three games by the TSHL president who will not stand for these types of actions in our new league.

Saturday saw Onion Lake’s team bus pull up to the Montreal Lake Arena with the Eagles ready to do battle with the hometown Blue Jackets.  This game signifies what we all want for this league.  A good clean fast paced hard-hitting game that ended up 12-8 for the visiting Eagles.  In total there was only three penalties called against both teams.  If you see any players or coaches from either of these teams tell them the president says thanks and good job boys.

Sunday was a good day for the 0-2 Braves from Little Pine but not so good for the 0-2 Moosomin Warriors.  As you may have guessed, Little Pine walked out of the Cutknife Civic Center with an entry in the win column by beating the Warriors 9-3.  The Moosomin Warriors are still winless and have an 0-3 record.

The final weekend game was the first league game for the Muskeg Lake Blues who traveled to Beardy’s only to lose their home opener to the Blackhawks by a 13-7 score.  It was a valiant effort put forth by the young Blues team who has a lot of rookies in their lineup.  Good luck boys keep trying.
