Tansi!
This weekend was a great start for native hockey in the Treaty Six Hockey League.
On Friday the 26th I traveled to
Congratulations to Jordy Lewis from the Onion Lake Eagles on
scoring the first ever goal at
On Sunday night I watched the Beardy’s Blackhawks play the Montreal Lake Blue Jackets at the Beardy’s Arena. It was a close game until the third period when the floodgates opened up for Beardy’s and they went on to win 9-4.
Also on Sunday the Mistawasis Warriors visited the Sandy
Lake Chiefs where they eked out an 8-7 victory.
The Sandy Lake Chiefs fought till the end when they had a power play
with 20 seconds to go but could not get the puck passed the Mistawasis
goalie. Unfortunately I couldn’t be in
two places at once so I missed the home opener in
While at these games I watched the fans as much as I watched the game and it makes me feel good to see the looks on their faces as their team scores a goal or their goalie makes a big save. I could see that first game jitters had a lot to do with the outcomes of these games but those jitters will disappear and the season progresses.
I would like to thank all the players for the good clean games that were played. This makes it easier to talk people into attending games as fans enjoy watching good fast clean hockey games; I know I did. Keep it up boys.
I will be traveling to Moosomin on Tuesday November 30th
to watch the Warriors play the Beardy’s Blackhawks at
If you haven’t yet, be sure to come out and watch a game.
Yours in Hockey,
Chris Pechawis
